Original Animated Series

If we had to nail down exactly what it is that we love doing most, it’s creating and producing series formats.

It’s what lured us into this crazy industry in the first place, and will always be at the heart of Stepmates Studios.

Sure, we love producing awesome explainer videos and animated logos - but there is truly something special about creating long form scripted narratives for television and streaming networks.

Back in 2019, Stepmates Studios was commissioned by Network Seven to produce the first season of the animated series Regular Old Bogan for Australian screens. This was a format we had been developing for nearly three years, producing web-series and social media videos along the way.

It was an enormous undertaking for a couple of young bucks with a start-up animation studio. Delivering a full series for broadcast was an extraordinary experience that taught us things that you can only learn by doing it. Google couldn’t help us - we just had to put our heads down, our bums up, and get it done.

Since then, we’ve produced a political ad campaign, the animated credit sequence for a major Hollywood blockbuster, and we’re developing a number of other formats for Australian and international audiences. We’re not allowed to spill the beans on them yet - but stay tuned - we’re excited to announce what we’ve working on!
